Plasticisers in the terrestrial environment: sources, occurrence and fate
نویسندگان
چکیده
Environmental context Many human activities cause the release of plastic and associated plasticisers to land, where chemicals may persist for extended periods be taken up by organisms. However, quantitative information terrestrial occurrence, fate exposure phthalate non-phthalate is lacking. Research into this field needed, especially as society moves away from phthalates next generation which themselves represent an emerging risk. Abstract Modern widely dependent upon plastic. Therefore, it unsurprising that macro- microplastic pollution found in every environmental compartment on earth. Plasticisers are added plastics increase their flexibility. Like themselves, also present environment. debris undergo long-range transport atmosphere oceans, contaminating even most remote areas land. In addition, although typically degrade a matter weeks–months, they can soil decades have been shown occur all land uses studied. Some genotoxic organisms, pose risk ecosystems health. To date majority data exists phthalates. diverse range with increasing transfer alternatives, research effects required determine management options. Data occurrence ecotoxicity plasticisers, addition impacts ecosystems, therefore, remain key need within wider debate.

Tetrachlorodibenzodioxin in the environment: sources, fate, and decontamination.
Research on the behavior and fate of pesticides in the environment has provided a number of valuable techniques for assessing the impact of any organic substance intentionally or unintentionally released in the environment. These techniques can be applied to the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) to determine its behavior under comparable conditions. Important parameters affecting the e...
متن کاملMicroplastics in the aquatic and terrestrial environment: sources (with a specific focus on personal care products), fate and effects
Due to the widespread use and durability of synthetic polymers, plastic debris occurs in the environment worldwide. In the present work, information on sources and fate of microplastic particles in the aquatic and terrestrial environment, and on their uptake and effects, mainly in aquatic organisms, is reviewed. Microplastics in the environment originate from a variety of sources. Quantitative ...
متن کاملChloroform in the environment: occurrence, sources, sinks and effects.
The chloroform flux through the environment is apparently constant at some 660+/-220 Ggyr(-1) (+/-1sigma) and about 90% of the emissions are natural in origin: the largest single source being in offshore sea water (contributing 360+/-90 Ggyr(-1)), with soil processes the next most important (220+/-100 Ggyr(-1)). Other natural sources, mainly volcanic and geological, account for less than 20 Ggy...
متن کاملPharma-Ecology – The Occurrence and Fate of Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products in the Environment
Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in the environment are a hot topic. Emitted from various sources, veterinary antibiotics, prescription drugs, and beauty products continuously enter the environment, where they have been detected at trace levels in reclaimed wastewater, surface and ground water, sludge-amended agricultural soils, aquatic and terrestrial biota, as well as in raw...
